Luana Asiata

London-based artist Luana Asiata’s work strikes the perfect balance between landscape and abstract: just reminiscent enough of real landscapes to transport us to a new, plausible world, but abstract enough to allow the viewer to endow the image with their own emotional interpretation.

There is a wonderful luminescent quality to her work, and the jewel tones of her compositions have an invigorating impact on the viewer. Different layers of colour wash over one another, achieving something like the effect of holding coloured film over a spotlight. Her colour-pairing is excellent and satisfying, and no doubt informed by the artist’s background in Graphic Design.

Luana is an award winning artist, originally from New Zealand with a background in fine arts and design. She won the 'Spotted' award at Top Drawer S/S 2020 as a new up and coming designer to watch, she won 'Judges Choice' at the Lambeth Street Design Competition (June 2021), she has been shortlisted twice at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2021/2022) and was a Wildcard in Landscape Artist of the Year 2023.
